Your screen reflects two hours of lightning activity delayed by 30 minutes, with fresh data available every 30 minutes. Just click the Refresh button to get the latest map available. The National Lightning Detection Network constantly detects lightning discharges to ground. Each lightning event, called a 'flash,' is recorded at the Network Control Center for the NLDN.
